Mapua University, DOST develop tech for remote bridge-monitoring

“The Smart Bridge team made some significant strides in our research. We developed USHER, which stands for Universal Structural Health Evaluation and Recording System. The system aims to provide an advanced decision support tool to building officials of LGUs and other stakeholders for structural health monitoring and management.” Dr. Uy stated. 

Mapua hosts delegates from Chinese Taipei, holds research colloquium

Mapúa University’s School of Civil, Environmental, and Geological Engineering (CEGE) hosted delegates from Chinese Taipei last June 13. 

The delegates, along with faculty members of CEGE, held a research colloquium on Water Resources and discussed research projects being undertaken at Mapúa such as the Mapúa Phil-LiDAR 1, the Automated Real-time Monitoring System (ARMS) for Ambuklao, Binga, and San Roque Dam, and the SMART Bridge project. 

Mapuans excel in May 2016 Civil Engineering board exams

Three graduates from Mapúa Institute of Technology topped the May 2016 Licensure Examination for Civil Engineers given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) earlier this month. 

Engr. Luvincci D. Tan got a 93.70% rating earning the number one spot among 2, 245 passers. Engr. Glenn Michael O. Quiachon placed fourth with a rating of 91.6%, while Engr. Daryl Paul B. Dela Rosa placed 10th with a 90.05% rating. 

Mapua School of CEGE launches Crowdpoint app

The School of Civil, Environmental, and Geological Engineering (CEGE) launched last August 14 a new mobile-based application, Crowdpoint. 

Developed by a team of researchers and engineers led by CEGE dean Dr. Francis Aldrine Uy, Crowdpoint is a community-based social networking app that combines geospatial information and civil systems and utilizes the power of ICT, GPS, crowdsourcing, and mapping technology in the delivery of public information. The app is a brainchild of Dr. Uy derived from his studies on geospatial information and civil systems. 

OBE pioneer lauds Mapúa for leadership in OBE implementation in Philippine higher education

Internationally recognized pioneer of Outcomes-Based Education (OBE), Dr. William Spady, praised Mapúa Institute of Technology and its leaders for their openness to learn and implement OBE saying that Mapúa is in a leadership role in implementing OBE in higher education. 

"This is a unique circumstance in my experience with this concept in the world because higher education institutions are driving this reform rather than K-12 schools which is the emphasis in the United States," he said.
